CPS Global School provides a wholesome learning environment for students to achieve their intellectual, physical and artistic potential. We truly believe that skill development is absolutely vital to prepare students for life. In order to build transferable skills among students, we identify their signature strengths, encourage them to take control of their learning and forge a path that suits their specific needs and skillset. The school offers a plethora of opportunities in both co-curricular and extra curricular activities while learning the fundamentals and mastering it as they progress in every stage.
The House system is an integral and vibrant part of our school’s culture where the entire student community belongs to one the houses namely Alphard, Canopus, Diadem and Plasma. The four houses literally pack the power of CPS constellation.
Alphard: The brightest Star in the constellation of Hydra and Blue colour represents Inspiration, Sincerity & Spirituality
Canopus: The second brightest star in the constellation of Carina and Yellow colour represents Self Respect, Well Being & Balance
Diadem: The main-sequence star in the constellation of Coma Berenices and Green colour represents Adventure, Risk Taking, Prosperity and Independence
Plasma: The essence of the stars and Red colour represents Passion, Joy & Courage
The House system aims to give students an identity and sense of pride in a supportive, secure environment.
It strengthens the feeling of belongingness, boosts competitive spirit, builds student-teacher rapport and encourages them to win for their houses by giving their best shot in both inter and intra school events.
Learning about art in all its forms makes students challenge the world they see around them, looking for multiple ways to solve problems and create something new. The true talent lies in the ability to draw from many wells and art is the medium through which we can access those wells. The skills learnt are showcased through an art exhibition from Grade I through 12 and parents are invited to visit and appreciate their creativity.
The main thrust of performing arts at CPS Global is student enrichment and participation. We believe that all our students are musicians, they just need to find their musical voice, whether it is through singing or learning an instrument, composing their own music, exploring elements of music or sharing their own interpretations of the music they hear. Music is offered from Early Years through Upper Secondary. Students learn music as a part of the regular program till Grade 5. Beyond which they get to choose amongst Dance/Music/Theatre according to their interest.
Lower Primary music curriculum is designed to be fun-filled and joyful learning, so that learners will enjoy singing through actions as an individual and also as a group. At this level music becomes trans disciplinary connecting subjects like Math, Science and Social Science. Upper Primary students start learning various genres of music in different languages, where they begin to focus on voice, diction, intonation, rhythm and tempo. They are also introduced to musical instruments such as keyboard, guitar and tambourine.
Learners in this group study music of different styles placed in their historical and cultural base. They start to recreate the music and compose new tracks through instruments enhancing their appreciation and enjoyment of music. Learners experiment with the latest music software available and produce digital albums as a team. The school band consisting of young musicians takes shape beginning Grade 9. These young musicians compose, perform to the audience at all major events of the school. They also represent the school in competitions, and render music for the target audience for fundraising activities.
Dance is a creative outlet and is as important as exercise in the development of healthy children. Learning dance and movement patterns from an early age develops kinesthetic memory, strength and endurance. To nurture the whole spectrum of every individual, dance is taught as a part of the cocurricular activities to develop a greater range of movement whilst developing the ability to work within different spaces. Children start to collaborate with each other and also learn to use gestures as a means of communication. All those dance skills that were learnt during the entire course, will be showcased during the Grand Annual Day.
At CPS Global, students learn dance as a part of the regular program till Grade 5. Beyond which they get to choose amongst Dance/Music/Theatre according to their interest.
Lower Primary starts with House dance, easier to accommodate and understand at this age. Kids in this segment step forward to learn the most beautiful dance style that promotes freedom of expression, emphasises subtle rhythms and riffs of the music. As they move into upper primary, they start exploring freestyle, which in its most extreme form, is the very opposite of choreography. Our children are encouraged to improvise their moves on the spot that allows them to be flexible to use their imagination.
Students of Lower Secondary experiment with various dance forms like lyrical dance. The moves at this stage are dynamic, where they subtly focus on conveying feelings and emotions through movements. In this segment, students also learn to understand the cultural contexts of dance forms from global perspectives. They develop an aesthetic appreciation and start applying various elements of dance.
The senior students venture into learning bold dance moves and popular high energy dance forms. They are given opportunities to choreograph using various elements of dance. They are taught different genres like contemporary, jazz, hip hop, salsa etc. They also try trans-disciplinary moves including yoga, martial arts and gymnastics. They are also taught safe dance practices that will enhance their physical well being and prolong their dance involvement.
Communication, Creative thinking and Confidence are the three C’s that help students to problem-solve, think on their feet, share thoughts and ideas clearly. These are the skills that Developmental Drama builds in each child and that is the objective of the Drama & Theatre curriculum at CPS Global. The curriculum is tailor made and delivered with expertise by the Australian based Helen O’ Grady International. Students are taught diverse aspects from acting to theatre techniques through theory and practice and staging a production with the experience of real life situations. The learning is showcased through a theatre production by each segment once a year. Variety of programmes planned at school like pantomime, pretend play, tableau provide multiple opportunities to unveil their skills developed in Drama & Theatre classes.
Students can choose to appear for certification from Initial to Grade 8 levels of Trinity Speech and Drama based on their potential through an external celebration of bringing text to life. These assessments are fully accredited in the UK and recognised internationally in many other countries.
Drama classes are non-judgemental spaces that bring out the best in each child. They gain confidence to question, ideate, collaborate and accept each other’s suggestions for improvement. At CPS Global, primary students are introduced at an early stage to the expressive, meaningful and dynamic world of Theatre. The Primary Levels lay the foundation on building their confidence, skills of imagination and visualisation that contribute to creative thinking. Speech training at this stage helps children to build vocabulary with comprehension and understanding.
Middle and high school students are in a physiological phase of intense physical, mental and emotional growth and upheaval. This time of transition, though challenging, presents great opportunities for personal exploration and development. Dramatic and theatrical training at this stage offers students the tools and skills to master and deal with these changes confidently as they grow to young adulthood. The focus now shifts to understanding emotion, characterisation and plots. They are encouraged to choose the genre of their liking, script their thoughts, understand the nuances of developmental drama and showcase it to fellow students.
Senior School at CPS Global sees the emergence of Youth Theatre. Drama & Theatre here is student directed, student led and the teacher remains a facilitator only. They research aspects of the drama, build improvisation, put their scripts together, design stage, costume, music and direct their own productions. They also take the lead to train their juniors during the school events. The skills learnt and techniques honed are also used by the students to showcase their curriculum learning during La fenetre, a grand culmination event of learning that takes place at the end of every school year.
The Robotics classes enhance creativity and encourage the thinking capacity of every child. It provides an environment to explore and experiment the simplest, and the weirdest ideas a child can get. Robotics curriculum at CPS Global is not just learning concepts, but also the application of these concepts learnt in the field of Math, Science, Computer Science, electronics and Engineering to solve real world challenges. Our approaches to teaching this ever fascinating subject never restricts the boundaries of creativity, instead appreciates every dimension of modelling, coding and investigation attempted.
The curious little minds of this segment get hands-on experience on Lego WeDo 2.0 to investigate, model and design solutions based on the STEM education. The pi lab is one of the most preferred destinations at CPS Global. Students love to learn logic gates and experiment with coding right from Grade 3.
The Secondary Level learners handle the ultimate mBlock kit where they model complicated structures, code them using the mbot software to do anything they can imagine. And mBlock exposes children to cutting-edge technologies, allowing children to create live projects. They gain exposure to the systems of sensors, control systems, manipulators, power supplies and software that work together to perform a task. While working in teams, students take up various roles as per their strengths and together they build and program their robot to conquer the challenge given.
Raspberry pi Lab
Advancement is useless until it is employed and the world benefits out of it. As a part of letting our students have a hand on it, we offer an introductory course to the raspberry pi platform. This program has successfully achieved its objective of enabling our young masterminds to learn programming and computer hardware using scratch and python-based IDE for the raspberry pi. The application of this platform is seen in the robotics lab where the students create solar street lights, lego raspberry pi enclosure, carousal, ferry’s wheels, remote control buggy. With all the real-world training, they are set to dive into the digital world with confidence.
Education is not just academics, but it’s all about holistic grooming of individuals and that’s what CPS Global prioritise. Life skills are building blocks that allow students to apply the knowledge they acquire to real world problems or situations. They provide them with important tools of development such as socialising, independent thinking and decision making skills. Our life skills program is a well thought engagement that specifically empowers students to appreciate themselves and the world around them as it is. This area of learning kickstarts our students’ preparedness to establish meaningful social relationships with the ecosystem. They learn to reflect and go ahead with an open mind, free from prejudices and stereotyping yielding positive, self-regulated and mindful learners. The attitude of appreciation and gratitude that is developed through life skill activities improves the happiness index of the community.
Life skills are in other words adaptive skills – adaptations which help them learn when life doesn’t give you lemons still how do you get your lemonade!
Life skills at Primary focuses on sharpening fine and gross motor skills. In addition to brushing teeth and learning to tie shoelaces on their own, our young learners also learn basic facts that widens their horizons in application, whom to contact during emergency, beginners first aid procedures, how to safely cross the street, dressing & dining etiquettes, navigational skills etc. The core curriculum in the upper primary concentrates on the skills that support character building, help students to connect with family and community, and most importantly focus on their wellbeing.
Reading is an essential life skill that develops mind muscle. A child who enjoys reading lays the foundation for exemplary literacy skills when he becomes an adult. To encourage this we have fun reading hours where children twist and turn stories or just hear them to develop patience and retention.
In the everyday life of a teenager, focusing on real life skills is a key element as it focuses on those areas that will be relevant for the future. Students discuss, analyse and collaborate on the issues inside and outside the classroom thereby mastering the skills that are dealt with. The Lower Secondary program concentrates on developing problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills. These fine skills are what we believe make our learners truly Independent and ready to face the opportunities that come their way. Time management, financial literacy, reflecting on self, coping with emotions, art of persuasion, being responsible are the variety of life skills students get exposed to at this stage.
Sports are a way to stay healthy and fit, both physically and emotionally as they help students prepare to face the challenges of life. Sports equip them with various skills like persistence, perseverance, collaboration, accountability, self-confidence which are not directly connected with physical endurance. Physical Literacy Program (PLP) at CPS Global is innovative with a unique approach to fitness – combining strength, yoga and sporting skills. This program educates students for lifelong wellbeing and incorporates various activities with the purpose to develop sports finesse. It’s all about dynamic learning with a focus on rhythmic literacy and multiple intelligences.
The school observes National Sports Day, International Yoga Day to emphasize on the 1importance of sports and wellbeing. On these days students fondly recall and play traditional sports and games bringing the culture alive.
Kids possess bundles of endless energy and Physical Education is an excellent outlet for releasing some of that. During the weekly schedules, they are encouraged to play and stay active as we provide child-friendly play facilities to help them enjoy their sports.
Lower primary aims at gross motor skills which help in development of children’s growth. CPS Global endeavors the following activities to achieve the same :
In the upper primary, we focus on cardio-based physical and muscle training activities to prepare them with the specific skills required to play a game. This segment focuses on the following activities:

The Sports Day is a glorious annual event in the annals of CPS Global School. We proudly celebrate the achievement of each and every student and their sportsmanship. The school recognises the highest level achievers of the year with Abhinav Bindra and Dhyan Chand Awards. It’s one big happy event where the whole school including the parent community comes together to encourage and support the blossoming talent of our young achievers. This day also witnesses parents participating in exciting events specially knitted for them. The day ends with the proud house champions of the year walking away with their Rolling Trophies amidst loud cheer and appreciation from their house members.
A School attains greatness or a sense of accomplishment with not only excellence in academics, but also by understanding the worth of giving back to the society to which it belongs. CPS Global envisions this in all its endeavours and instills certain attributes, prime among them to be empathetic, compassionate and always think and act in a manner that will benefit the society at large. We firmly believe that when students get involved in community service, they expand their worldview, realize the impact of their actions on society apart from helping others. Thus their passion reinvigorates when they return to the classroom with the knowledge of their real life world and the connections to learning.
To build a healthy society, it is imperative that kids know how important community helpers are. In Lower Primary we expose our children to the citizens who take on different roles in the community and celebrate community helpers day. The Joy of giving is an enriching experience and a priceless feeling that gets one to realise the true meaning of life and its impact on others. In the upper primary, a myriad of service activities includes contributing to the community fridge to reduce food wastage and cover the hunger issue in the society; visiting old age homes, raising funds through craft bazaar, distributing seed bombs and many more.
This segment students are ardent to pass on a good vibe and contribute to the community fridge as we believe that this act will help them to understand and appreciate what they have and also imbibe the quality to empathise with the needy. They also actively take part in all fund raising activities organised by their seniors, orphanage visits and awareness campaigns. The funds generated from the Artisan market and various celebrations/festivals are distributed to the less privileged segment fostering a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment from their work.
As the saying goes “every charitable act is a stepping stone towards heaven,” the students of CPS Global embark on a gargantuan effort through crowdfunding/fundraising activities to aid differently abled people to live their dream.Learning through experience and serving the community enhances their personal and interpersonal development. Our students engage in multifarious social impact initiatives and rallies to symbolise the element that they are a part of the society, taking care of the needy, preserving and protecting the natural resources. It includes cancer awareness campaign in collaboration with Adyar Cancer Institute, organ donation awareness rally in collaboration with Frontier Lifeline Hospital, stem cell donation awareness campaign in association with DATRI; nationwide ‘Rally for Rivers’ along with certain specific agenda like remodelling the abandoned suburban railway station in Chennai, coastal clean up projects and so on. They also extend their learning beyond – by sharing their knowledge to teach the rural students, by improving the ambience of the surrounding, to empower themselves and earn the truest experiences that their efforts have netted them.
What we learn becomes a part of who we are…
Learning from the world is the best way to learn as we are going to apply all we learn in the real world.
The personal insights and self-knowledge gained in outdoor education contributes to the academic programs and aids students to manage situations they come across in life. A wide variety of experiences and activities are offered to meet the differing interests and developmental levels of our students. The school provides a beyond classroom learning environment that allows students to thrive as an individual. Educational trips play a crucial role in acquiring wider knowledge, cultural understanding and hand-on experience. Good planning precedes our outdoor trips. Careful attention is given while selecting the place of visit and to the trip itself with an appropriate follow up and evaluation. Outdoor trips are planned periodically to locations that are unique and cannot be duplicated in the classroom scenario to drive the concepts deeper.
Our lower primary children visit those places which provide authentic learning opportunities. A trip to a supermarket or a traffic island helps them understand the care that needs to be taken before buying anything from the supermarket or the rules to be followed on the road. This hands-on experience is showcased through socio dramatic plays which internalise the experiences of outdoor learning. This visual literacy ensures appropriate mapping of the content learnt in the classroom. Our upper primary students visit those places which allow them to understand the history, connect with the present times and visualise the future. A short trip to the rail museum takes them through the journey of locomotives – where it began, where it is and where it will be. The last part is achieved through a healthy discussion and reflection after they return from the field trip.
The outdoor learning at this stage becomes more focussed. The trips bring books to life and life to books. Our trips at this stage include service learning which focuses on the ‘socially beneficial’ aspect of the trip. Students now start reflecting on what they see around them, what it is that they can give back to society. The objective now is also to brush on their soft skills which require sharpening. Organic Farms, Horticulture Spots, Adyar Theosophical Society, Birla Planetarium, National Art Gallery, Dakshinachitra, Periyar Science and Technology Centre are the informative places that our students visit. The trips as is evident are planned to cater to a variety of student interests ranging from Art to biology to space science.
By the time students move into upper secondary school the outdoor learning has a specific objective. They visit the places as per the subject interest also along with trips aimed for the whole segment. It is time for the students to know how gas chromatography works or how language is used in the media. They observe, discern patterns and relationships, determine correlations and make evaluations, the students in effect are practicing the process of scientific inquiry first-hand.
Industrial visits are organised to understand the raw material procurement, factors affecting production, work assembly process, logistics and other aspects in order to aid them to experience it’s real-world application. Some of the outdoor trips our students enjoy visiting are the world’s largest Cardiac pathology Museum, Centenary Library, and the Newspaper Printing Unit.
School assembly is the mirror to the school culture. At CPS Global this is the buzzing time of enthusiasm and engagement. Every student across the school gets a chance to be a part of this assembly to bring out the best in them. It’s a forum where we come together to
Our Primary assemblies are colourful and peppy where the youngest of the school present theme songs, recite poems, share thoughts and narrate meaningful stories with a lot of takeaways. The assemblies range from ‘I to We’, Family to Society, ‘Local to Global’ exhibiting their awareness and knowledge on a wide variety of topics.
Senior assemblies are steered completely by the students of Grade 6 upwards. The assemblies delve deeper into events both past and present while engaging the audience constructively, whether it is observing a simple World Health Day or exploring children’s rights linked to real life situations. Assemblies are planned carefully, keeping the international student community in mind and the sensitivity of diverse groups. Every Grade is given an opportunity to design and present an assembly with specific themes like a Mother Language Day, Human Rights Day, World Teachers’ Day, Laughter Day etc. The presentation takes various forms from a simple dialogue to skit, pantomime, dance or a song. Each assembly has a thought for the day framed which reinforces the life skills and values. This is also the arena of fame where stars and achievers are recognised, applauded and awarded. Whole school comes together for the Special Assemblies conducted once a month for festivities and significant celebrations.
The assemblies leave the students energised and inspired to set and achieve their individual goals. Energy is equal to desire and purpose, a day well begun!
