Cambridge Primary is an international education programme, typically for young learners aged 5 to 11 years. This program provides a broad and balanced education for learners, helping them to thrive throughout their schooling. It’s built around what matters most to children as they take their first steps in education. Laying a robust foundation for a lifetime of learning, this segment places a huge emphasis on the key skills of literacy, numeracy, scientific and digital education. While acquiring these skills, they do find plenty of opportunities to develop creativity, expression and wellbeing in a variety of ways.
The curriculum highlights inquiry and application-based learning and allows for the practice of interdisciplinary and theme-based approaches to teaching, helping students learn collaboratively and develop broader perspectives. It develops young learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged.
Cambridge Primary English encourages a life-long enthusiasm for reading, writing and spoken communication. They develop skills and understanding in four areas: reading, writing, speaking and listening; learn how to communicate effectively and respond to a range of information, media and texts to:
Math helps learners to think analytically and have better reasoning abilities. Cambridge Primary Mathematics curriculum encourages life-long enthusiasm for analytical and rational thinking. Learners develop a holistic understanding of the subject, focussing on principles, patterns, systems, functions and relationships. They will become mathematically competent and fluent in computation, which they can apply to everyday situations.
‘Thinking and working mathematically’, a unique feature of the Cambridge Primary curriculum, encourages learners to talk with others, challenge ideas and to provide evidence that validates conjectures and solutions. When learners are thinking and working mathematically, they actively seek to make sense of ideas and build connections between different facts, procedures and concepts. This supports higher order thinking that helps them to view the world in a mathematical way.
Cambridge Primary Science curriculum helps learners develop a life-long curiosity about the natural world and enables them to seek scientific explanations to the phenomena around them.
Students will think scientifically and develop practical skills alongside knowledge and understanding, which is vital for explaining the world around us. Improving learners’ awareness of Science in the world around them develops their sense that ‘Science is for me’, helping to connect themselves to the subject.
This approach provides them with the knowledge and skills they require to excel at Science in later stages of education and to make informed choices, including considering sustainability issues and meeting the challenges facing our environment.
Social Science deals with Human Beings – their behaviour, growth and development, relationships, resources they use and the various institutions they require to function and carry on their life smoothly. The subject helps children to develop Awareness of The World and Environment which in turn helps students to understand their place in the world.
We believe in the pragmatic nature of Social Studies, therefore we at CPS Global School delve into the subject vis-a-vis self-actualisation and self-realisation through practical and relevant examples. Our approach is interactive, as we incorporate open-ended and critical thinking activities thereby helping mould a learner’s mind to become inquisitive about formulating new questions and seeking their answers.
At primary level, Character building and framing right beliefs are given due importance. They are introduced to in-depth discussions and role play on topics such as – importance of conservation of nature/living beings, respect and equality of genders, importance of voting and exercising their rights and duties etc. Our learners stand to gain ample opportunities to frame and express their opinions, using analytical thinking. This subject aims to prepare our learners to understand the importance of their participation & contribution towards the goodwill of our society.
Today’s children being in the era of technology enjoy learning through live real-time instructions and endless chances to imagine, question every possibility and explore beyond these possibilities. These skills not just focus on helping them to choose and develop a career but make them well prepared to access the opportunities of the future. Keeping this in focus, the age-appropriate ICT curriculum at CPS Global is carefully curated with an interesting mix of coding and applications. Our students engage in a plethora of hands-on activities mastering their ability to use technology and logic, structure, sequence and algorithmic thinking to develop games, websites and apps.
Achieving linguistic mastery intricately proves to create a remarkable impact on a student’s confidence, self-esteem, and presentation skills. At CPS Global School, we strongly advocate the importance of mastering a second language. We offer French, Tamil and Hindi and a child can learn one of these from Grade 1-5. With this principle, our students focus on exploring the aspects of language by working on listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in a focused manner. Interesting learning environments driven by a range of simulative tools, real-world interactions and vocabulary games are created to drive students’ attention and interest in learning a new language. Through their learning, we strive to create open-minded individuals who can be globally connected, recognising and appreciating one’s own and other cultures prevailing around them.
Cambridge Primary Checkpoint is a diagnostic test that helps learners by giving comprehensive feedback on their strengths and areas of improvement in Math, Science and English. These are conducted at the end of Grade 5 which is the end of Cambridge Primary. The tests are fully marked by Cambridge International and each learner receives a statement of achievement and a diagnostic report.
Young learners of CPS Global experience a spread of co-curricular and extra curricular opportunities that nurture and celebrate individual character, help develop social skills to get along with others, whilst building self-esteem and self-reliance. Together young hearts and minds are moulded to be resilient, respect people from every walk of life, and choose to make a difference in the lives of others.
We are very much desirous about profile building of every child passing through the doors of CPS Global to acquire the right skills and knowledge they need to reach the futures that are right for them. Our partnerships with both National and International certifying/testing organisations train our students of varied age groups and award qualifications based on the acquired competencies at a pace that suits them.
