HUMANITIES WEEK @ CPS GLOBAL THIRUMAZHISAI

Written by cpsglobalblog

“The essence of humanities lies in the profound endeavor to elevate our humanity to its finest expression.”

– J. Irwin Miller

Our school hummed with vibrant activity throughout Humanities Week. The little ones from ELP were treated to an enlightening short animation, showcasing how our diversity empowers us. Meanwhile, the IGCSE and IBDP students were immersed in a plethora of engaging activities, including poetry composition, debates, and crafting distinctive logos. Remarkable entries flooded in for the poetry competition themed “Human in an AI world.” Students also showcased their artistic talents by designing logos for the Humanities Department.

A wide array of topics, spanning from the significance of freedom of speech to the effective governance of the United Nations, from the integration of technology into classrooms to the international adoption of children, incited spirited debates among our IG & IB students. CAIE 4 & 5 students were captivated by the world of Warli art, where each student meticulously crafted a masterpiece under the guidance of their art teachers.

The week-long celebration culminated in a grand special assembly. CAIE 1, 2, and 3 students adorned themselves in diverse cultural attire, with a few donning the personas of illustrious historical figures. CAIE 6 students presented an elaborate model portraying the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and enlightened the audience about each goal’s significance. In a splendid fusion of humanities and theater, students from CAIE 7 & 8 delivered a riveting skit named “Guardians of the Galaxy,” centered on SDG 16, promoting peace, justice, and strong institutions. An enjoyable world geography quiz not only kept the audience engaged but also imparted valuable knowledge.

The assembly concluded on a jubilant note, with the champions of Impulse – The cultural extravaganza organized by CPS Global Anna Nagar, receiving well-deserved accolades. Additionally, Leelah, a student from CAIE 5 and an emerging star in karate and silambam, was recognized for her outstanding achievement in winning the state-level championship. As we draw the curtains on this memorable week, we carry forward the spirit of humanities in our hearts, striving to become more compassionate and enlightened individuals.
