Understanding that numbers have an order comes from counting. Children can link numbers to quantities in everyday life. In EY2 Several counting activities were conducted. How many drops to fill the dot, sliding the hula hoop through satin ribbon, zig zag lines, arranging things on the table according to the number, and silly voices are some of the activities. While engaging in these activities, children were encouraged to count backwards as well.
