The Layered Jar @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

Science learning surrounds us, inside and out. Kids love checking things out with magnifying glasses, creating chemical reactions with kitchen ingredients, learning about solids that dissolve in liquids, and exploring stored energy!

As our young EY 3 scientist embarks on their science journey, hands-on experiments become the building blocks of knowledge. Here’s another super cool  experiment we did in our science lab – the Density jar

A density jar is a “stack” of liquids that are layered in a jar. Because each liquid has a different density, the liquids can be made to layer on top of each other without mixing. We chose to use 4 liquids for our density tower – honey, soap, water, and oil. Children were amazed at how the different liquids sit on top of each other without mixing.
