Magnets @ CPG GS, ANN

Written by cpsglobalblog

“Live like a magnet. If there is a jungle of different things around you, your magnetic nature will choose the favorable and pass over the unfavorable”.

Magnets have been popular in science classrooms for many years as a great way to learn about magnetic fields and poles

EY 3 learners explored with magnets today. They learnt about the magnetic fields, North pole and South Pole. They also learnt the same poles repel and opposite poles attract each other.

We did a hands-on activity by sorting out the magnetic objects and non magnetic objects. Two Hula hoops were placed and different types of magnetic and non-magnetic objects were kept inside the box. They took turns and sorted out magnetic objects in one hula hoop and non magnetic objects in the other one.

We also drew different types of magnets such as horseshoe, sphere, ring, cylindrical, needle and bar magnet.

When children are in a sense of “doing science” rather than just sitting and listening to someone lecture them, the process of “inquiry based” learning happens. This is the platform where the why’s and how’s boggle their analytical thinking and get the little minds to deliberate.
