The activity may sound extremely simple, requiring just jumping at the sound, yet is a great way to consolidate phoneme-grapheme correspondence in an active way. It’s also a great assessment tool to quickly see which letters they are sure of and which ones they are not so very confident of and need to become a target for practise. Our EY-1 kids enthusiastically participated in this activity. It helped children in letter recognition and in physical development, when they jump with 2 feet together it coordinates the body to move to a selected location.
