CIE 7 wasn’t exactly a dream team. The Global Perspectives project on sustainability had barely begun when the complaints started—“I will not work with him!” “She’s not sharing the glue!” “He’s not listening to me!” But as they worked in pairs to create self-watering pots, nightstands from used water bottles, home décor from glass, papier-mâché vases, and organizers from discarded cardboard, something unexpected happened.
Somewhere between arguing over scissors and figuring out how to balance a nightstand on plastic bottles, teamwork took over. They learned to communicate, compromise, and solve problems together. When things went wrong, they fixed them without blaming each other (well, most of the time).
By the end, their complaints turned into high-fives and “Look what we made!” In their reflections, the students of CIE 7 realized they had not only created sustainable products but had also gained valuable team skills that will help them in the future.
