March 19th, 2025, marked the exciting commencement of the India-hikes IAYP adventure journey for IGYR 2 students, both bronze and silver-level participants! A vibrant group of 25 students arrived at a serene nature enclosure in Coorg ready to immerse themselves in the wilderness.
After settling into their new surroundings, the students were warmly welcomed by the wonderful team of India-hikes staff. The team emphasized the mission of this journey: to forge a deep connection with nature and discover our place within its intricate tapestry. They also instilled the crucial importance of preserving the purity of the forest, reminding everyone of their responsibility as stewards of the environment.
With a spirit of adventure, the students then embarked on a short practice trek to a stunningly picturesque stream. They observed fascinating flora and fauna, including playful fish darting through the clear water and the delicate beauty of blooming coffee flowers.
Upon returning to the campsite, the students engaged in a reflective recap of the day’s experiences. They discussed their observations, learned more about their vital role in maintaining the health of the forest ecosystem, and documented their thoughts and feelings in their journals.
