Walkathon 2024: Heart for Action

Written by cpsglobalblog

On Sunday, 22nd September 2024, the atmosphere was electric as participants gathered at 6:30 AM at Chennai Public School, Anna Nagar, eager to take part in the much-anticipated Walkathon 2024. By 7:00 AM, the event officially started off, and participants embarked on their 2.9 km walk through some of Anna Nagar’s most scenic and vibrant streets. The thoughtfully planned route took walkers past the lush greenery of TVS Colony and the lively Annanagar West Extension, passing through Thirumangalam before reaching the final stop at Frontier Lifeline Hospital.

The Walkathon was an enriching experience, blending fitness with education, and left participants inspired to continue taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle. It was a day when the entire school community united to support heart health, embodying teamwork, perseverance, and care.

As the famous saying goes, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” This walkathon symbolized an important first step toward a heart-healthy lifestyle.

This year’s Walkathon was held in alignment with World Heart Day, embracing the theme “Use Heart for Action.” The theme encouraged everyone to take proactive steps in improving heart health—not just for themselves, but for others as well. It emphasized making heart-healthy choices in daily life and taking action to prevent heart disease.

Upon crossing the finish line, participants enjoyed a refreshing cool-down session followed by energizing refreshments. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the accomplishment, connect with fellow walkers, and reflect on the importance of staying active and healthy. The event also featured inspiring speeches from three distinguished medical professionals: Dr. Vignesh, a surgeon; Dr. Subhiksha, a day shift physician; and Dr. Mithun, a cardiologist. Their insights motivated both students and staff, providing practical advice on heart health and maintaining a balanced, active lifestyle.

Additionally, an enlightening speech on cyber and women’s safety by Madame Devasana, the Station Inspector of JJ Nagar Police Station, addressed vital issues and underscored the importance of digital awareness and personal safety in today’s world.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Miss Sandya Cheriyan for her initiative and leadership in making this event a reality. We are also deeply grateful to our sponsors, Glenmark and Frontier Lifeline Hospital, as well as our collaborators, for their generous support. Without their contributions, this event would not have been possible. Thank you all for helping to make a difference in our community and promoting heart health awareness.

On this World Heart Day, let’s pledge to love and protect the heart that sustains us all!
