Sparkling white, strong teeth provide confidence in smiling to the world! Fluoride makes teeth enamel strong, resistant to acid and protects from developing tooth decay. It also reduces the amount of acid that the bacteria produces on the teeth. The learners experimented the effect of vinegar (weak acid) and fluoride mouthwash (weak base) on two boiled eggs placed in respective glass jars. The observations were recorded after 24 hours for the change in texture, structure and colour on boiled eggs exposed to the two solutions respectively. It was interpreted that fluoride reverses early decay and remineralizes the tooth enamel.
