Through today’s expert talk session, Dr Kartik Chandra Mondal , Associate Professor IIT Madras took the students on a virtual expedition into his research world of single molecular magnets- devices capable of storing information just like human brains through their unique magnetic fields.
The d and f block metals when coordinated to organic compounds evolve as potential ligands thus synthesizing molecules that have unique magnetic properties. These can revolutionize the electronics industry by developing new devices that can store large informations in a smaller space.
This session gave them insights into the cutting edge research happening around the world. It gave the students an immersion into the field which they can explore in-depth moving forward.
