The Industrial Waste Management Association (IWMA) and SOF (Science Olympiad Foundation) held a two-day environment awareness program named ENVIRO 2024 on July 27 th and 28 th , 2024, at the Indian Institute of Technology – Madras to educate students about environmental challenges. Over 450 children from 75+ schools in and around Chennai have entered for contests such as fun with crayons for juniors, environment quiz for middle school, ecotourism brochure design for seniors, and a 60-second short film for super senior students.
“Recycling costs so little indeed, for our Earth, its a lifeline we all need” with this tagline our students Siddhav Srikumar (AS 1) and Shiven Kannan (AS 1) – Shine with a Third Prize Win, in 60 sec short film for super senior students. The short film highlighted the importance of recycling for maintaining environmental sustainability and ensuring the health of our planet.
Alvy John (CAIE 5A) has also made us proud by winning the 1 1st consolation prize in Fun with crayons – Junior category. The drawing was splendid and brilliantly captured the essence of gardening for personal well-being and supporting environmental sustainability. The awards were given by Dr B Chandrasekaran, Scientist and Former director, CLRI, Chennai along with the IWMA Office Bearer and Judges on the Valedictory ceremony.
