Our CIE 8 students explored the fascinating concept of Newton’s Law of Cooling and discovered how heat naturally flows from a hotter object to its cooler surroundings.
Through their observation, students understood that the greater the difference in temperature between an object and its surroundings, the faster the object cools. As time passes and the temperature difference becomes smaller, the rate of cooling gradually slows down.
This simple yet powerful principle helps us understand many everyday experiences—from a hot cup of tea slowly reaching room temperature to objects cooling naturally in their surroundings. The students learned that nature constantly moves towards thermal equilibrium, where an object eventually reaches the same temperature as its surroundings.
Through this learning experience, our CIE 8 students connected scientific theory with real-life observations and gained a deeper understanding of how temperature, time, and heat transfer are interconnected.
