“Folding Hope: CIE 6 Students Commemorate Hiroshima Day with Paper Cranes”

Written by cpsglobalblog

On Hiroshima Day, the CIE 6 students at CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai observed a poignant tribute by creating paper cranes. This activity was inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki, a young girl who survived the Hiroshima bombing but later succumbed to leukaemia, a result of radiation exposure. Her quest to fold 1,000 paper cranes, symbolizing her hope for peace and recovery, deeply moved the students. Through this hands-on project, they not only honed their origami skills but also gained a profound understanding of the tragic consequences of nuclear warfare. The students were educated about the devastating impact of nuclear weapons and the importance of global nuclear disarmament. This activity fostered a sense of empathy and a strong commitment to advocating for peace, aligning with the school’s values of nurturing informed and compassionate global citizens.
