Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS) is a well renowned institute that involves itself in
equipping individuals to effectively manage stress through a spectrum of techniques organised a
session on Emotional Well – Being & Stress Management at Chennai on 12 th March as a wellness
initiative. The session was conducted by the celebrated Psychologist Dr. Sanjeev P. Sahni whose wit
and humour made the entire session to strike a chord with the audience that comprised of School
Principals, Teachers and Parents. Gone are those days where attributes of health used to be solely
considered a state that is devoid of diseases and infirmity.

Experts of the present times suggest that
a good state of health encompasses physical, mental and social well-being which allows the
individuals realize their potential and cope with the stresses of life. Dr. Sahni with a wealth of
experience in the field of Psychology is a doyen when it comes to motivating people and enhancing
their ability to thrive at various facets of life. His sessions stand apart from other noted Psychologists
by addressing the individual rather than just addressing the crowd. Dr. Sahini stressed the need to
strike a balance between the hustle and bustle of life by allowing the space to have dedicated time
for relaxation and fun that act as the endurance to deal with the challenges of life. He went on to lay
emphasis on the imminent need for increased attention for breathing exercises and relaxation
techniques alongside maintaining proper sleep rhythm.

The session proved to be a worthwhile
experience for the facilitators of CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai as they deserved an expert’s
guidance to help students handle stress especially at this crucial time of the academic year where
course work submissions are in steady flow. Overall, the session although conveyed an
overwhelming amount of information, it was neatly presented in a lucid manner that resonates with
the famous thought by Jon Franklin that states, “Simplicity, carried to an extreme, becomes
elegance.”
