Listen and Tell : Fostering Young Minds Through the Magic of Stories @ CPSGS ANN

Written by cpsglobalblog

In a world that often seems to move at breakneck speed, one essential skill often overlooked is the art of listening. On October 26th, our school hosted an enriching event titled “Listen and Tell,” where young minds had the opportunity to immerse themselves in carefully selected stories and narratives. Beyond simply listening, they were encouraged to express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to the story. The event was an ode to the power of storytelling and the importance of developing strong listening skills in our children.

The heart of this event lay in fostering active listening. It’s not merely about hearing words; it’s about comprehending, connecting, and engaging with the narrative. The ability to listen actively is a skill that underpins all aspects of communication and learning. It enhances comprehension, critical thinking, and empathy, and it lays the foundation for effective self-expression.

At the event, our students were encouraged to listen with intent and engage their hearts and minds in the narratives. Following each story, they had the opportunity to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This exercise was more than just recounting what they heard; it was about drawing connections, asking questions, and expressing their emotions. Through this process, they not only deepened their understanding of the stories but also honed their communication and interpersonal skills.

One of the most beautiful aspects of the event was the diversity of stories and perspectives. Our students were exposed to tales from different cultures, time periods, and genres.

The “Listen and Tell” event was more than just an afternoon of storytelling; it was an investment in our children’s growth. It encouraged them to become better listeners, learners, and communicators. It highlighted the significance of empathy, creativity, and active engagement with the world around them.

As we reflect on this beautiful event, we’re reminded that the art of listening is indeed a precious gift. It connects us to each other, to the world’s stories, and to our own hearts. The “Listen and Tell” event served as a reminder that in our busy lives, taking the time to truly listen can be transformative.

We look forward to nurturing these skills in our students, fostering a love for stories, and watching them grow into compassionate, curious, and expressive individuals.

In the end, “Listen and Tell” wasn’t just an event; it was a celebration of the magic that unfolds when we lend our ears to the stories that surround us. It was an ode to the art of listening and the enduring power of storytelling in shaping young hearts and minds.
