“Curiosity melts the boundaries of our knowledge.”
Our CIE 3 students conducted an intriguing investigation to compare how quickly different solids melt.
Using a stopwatch, they measured the time it took for ice, butter, and chocolate to turn from solid to liquid. The experiment showed that ice melted first, followed by butter, while chocolate took the longest. This activity helped students understand that different solids have unique melting points, with ice melting the fastest. The experiment revealed that each substance melted at a different rate, offering insights into the unique properties of each.
This hands-on activity helped students understand the science of melting and the factors influencing the speed of phase changes.
