Celebrating World Photography Day at CPS Global School

The spirit of World Photography Day was observed with enthusiasm encapsulating a vibrant celebration at CPS Global School, Thirumzhisai on the 18th of August 2023. The event displayed with brilliant strokes of the school’s commitment to artistic expression and the power of visual storytelling. CAIE 8 students took the lead in orchestrating an engaging assembly, introducing a captivating Picto Puzzle activity that heightened participants’ visual communication skills.

Students from CAIE 1 to CAIE 5 delved into the evolution of photography and explored various photography genres. The captivating journey paid homage to pioneers who had left an indelible mark in the world of photography. As part of the celebration, CAIE 6 to CAIE 8 students underwent an immersive Basic Photography workshop. This workshop delved into the intricate aspects of photography, such as composition, lighting, and other techniques that transform a simple click into a masterpiece.

The celebration extended to IG & IB students who resorted to explore the avenues of mobile photography by venturing across the campus, capturing the essence of the environment and immortalizing their unique perspectives.

Adding another layer to the celebration, the school organized “Chennai in Frames,” a photography competition commemorating Madras Day. Participants were invited to submit photographs of Chennai’s iconic landmarks, capturing the essence and spirit of the city. This competition not only celebrated the beauty of Chennai but also encouraged students to explore and appreciate their surroundings.

The winners of “Chennai in Frames” were recognised for their outstanding talent to visualise and freeze the priceless moments seamlessly by adjusting the lens. In the Early Learning Programme (ELP) category, Zikra and Maayon of ELP 3 claimed victory. Moving up, Nivin Sai of CAIE 1 and Zara Abigail of CAIE 2 emerged as winners in the CAIE 1 to CAIE 5 category. The excellence continued with Prasanna Vadhanan of CAIE 6 who emerged as the winner in the CAIE 6 to CAIE 8 category. The prestigious accolades in the IG & IB category were reserved for Karishma Scinde and Solai Sudharshan Solaiyappan of IBDP 2 and IBDP 1 respectively.

The event showcased the immense creativity that thrives within the CPS Global School community, highlighting the power of the arts to inspire, educate, and connect. This celebration not only kindled a lifelong passion for photography but also reinforced the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who appreciate the beauty of the world around them.
