In our latest Geography activity, we explored the fascinating topic of urbanization through a visual journey. Students were shown a series of images comparing landscapes from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. The challenge was to identify the changes over time and uncover the reasons behind these transformations. For instance, the traditional sight of horses ploughing fields has been replaced by modern, high-tech farming equipment. Pictures of serene ponds have given way to bustling semi-detached houses, while old farmhouses have transformed into luxurious holiday homes.
These changes reflect the broader trends of technological advancement, population growth, and changing lifestyles. Our learners were excited to discuss how urbanization reshapes our environment and what drives these dynamic changes. This activity not only sharpened their observational skills but also deepened their understanding of how human activities influence the world around us.
