CIE 1 learners engaged in a hands-on activity, the “Compound Word Guessing”, that aimed at enhancing their understanding and effective usage of compound words. The goal was to enrich learners’ vocabulary and enable them to articulate ideas more precisely.
Children were given different pictures and they had to identify the pictures and move around the class to find their matching pair, and combine the words to form a compound word. This interactive activity not only sharpens their word recognition skills but also encourages collaboration and communication among peers.
The significance of merging words into new and creative compound words has been highlighted through this activity.
