The students of CIE 6 made a temporary mount of onion peel to comprehend the structure of a plant cell while exploring the working of the microscope. Student groups worked together to make a thin section of the onion tissue, intoduce a stain and use their knowledge of the different magnification of lenses to focus and observe the organelles. Students cheered as each one tried to identify an organelle. Amidst all the excitement, the whole class achieved identifying the Cell Wall, Cell Membrae and Nucleus, while a few went deeper to identify more.
