Introducing the articles a and an to Early Years students can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Children are building their language skills at this stage, and learning basic grammar concepts helps establish a strong foundation for effective communication.
Articles are small but important words used to specify nouns. In English, we use a before words that start with a consonant sound and an before words that begin with a vowel sound (a, e, i, o, u).
Our EY3 learners participated in a hands-on activity to explore the usage of articles a and an. They practiced identifying objects and placing them in the correct category. The activity also included matching articles with corresponding objects, pictures, and words, helping reinforce their understanding in a fun and interactive way.
