The sponge-squeezing activity is a wonderful way to strengthen fine motor skills by engaging small hand and finger muscles while improving hand-eye coordination, focus, patience, and concentration. The EY2C toddlers dipped the sponge in water and squeezed it into another container, which encouraged problem-solving and critical thinking as they explored how much water a sponge can hold and the most effective ways to squeeze it. This activity offers a rich sensory experience, allowing toddlers to explore concepts like the textures of “wet” and “dry,” or the states of “full” and “empty,” which enhances their sensory awareness. Simple yet interactive, this activity supports early learning and keeps toddlers entertained and engaged.
