CIE 4 learners investigated how the exposed surface area influences the rate of water evaporation. They measured 100 ml of water and poured it into two separate containers—one with a narrow opening and another with a wider mouth. The initial water level was marked on the outer surface of each container. The setup was left undisturbed for three hours to observe any changes in water levels. Through this experiment, students discovered that water evaporates more rapidly from the container with a wider opening than from the one with a narrow mouth. Evaporation is the quiet art of transformation, where the energy of warmth and the openness of space decide the speed at which water becomes air.!
