Fingers on the bottom and thumb on the top
Open shut, open shut
That’s the way we cut, cut, cut
Scissor skills are an important aspect of early childhood development, as they help children develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. By practicing this skills, children learn how to hold and manipulate the scissors correctly, which improves their grip strength and control. Today EY2 children were engaged in scissor skill practice through fun activities that incorporate numbers and dice. To play this game, all we need is a dice and some paper. When it’s their turn, children rolled the dice and look at the number that comes up. They then cut out the number from their paper using scissors. This activity not only helps children improve their scissor skills, but also reinforces basic numeracy concepts like one more than and less than. It is important to provide supervision during scissor skill practice to ensure safety and proper technique.
It’s a playful approach that combines learning with fun!
