In our EY 3 art and craft class, the children embarked on an exciting journey to create magical castles using drawing and oil pastel coloring techniques. This activity allowed the little artists to unleash their creativity and helped them develop essential fine motor skills.
We began the session by discussing different types of castles, their features, and the magical stories that often surround them. The children were then guided through drawing a basic castle, including elements like towers, flags, and windows. Step by step, they followed instructions, learning to use simple shapes to bring their castles to life on paper.
Once the outlines were complete, it was time for the fun part – coloring! The children used oil pastels to add vibrant colors to their drawings, experimenting with blending and shading to give their castles a magical look. They learned how to create different effects by applying light and dark tones, enhancing the visual appeal of their artwork.
The activity was not only a creative endeavor but also an opportunity for the young learners to strengthen their focus and patience. Each child’s castle was unique, reflecting their imagination and artistic flair. This lesson helped the children develop their drawing skills, explore color mixing, and express their creativity while having fun.
