The Magic of Magnets @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

Did you know that we can move some things without even touching them? Just like how we need power to open and close doors, there’s a special kind of power called magnetism! Magnets can do amazing things that feel almost magical. Imagine being a wizard with the ability to move things with just your mind—this is exactly what magnets can do! They have a special force that allows them to attract (pull) or repel (push) certain metal objects. When we bring two magnets close together, sometimes they pull each other in, and sometimes they push each other away.

After learning how magnets work, the children gathered a mix of magnetic and non-magnetic materials and placed them in a tray. With their eyes closed, each child picked an item and tested it with a magnet to see if it would attract or repel. They then sorted the items into two groups: magnetic and non-magnetic. This hands-on activity turned learning about magnets into an exciting adventure. By exploring and sorting, the children not only grasped the concept of magnetism but also enjoyed the thrill of discovery. The magic of science was truly in the air, inspiring them to keep asking questions and exploring the world around them!
