Raksha Bandhan – A Reverence to the Eternal Bond of Siblinghood

Written by cpsglobalblog

Raksha Bandhan, a festival to exalt the profound and unbreakable connection between brothers and sisters has stood the test of time as this tradition of revering to siblings goes back to the ancient Vedic era. Affectionately known as “rakhi” the term is derived from Sanskrit that translates to “the tie or knot of protection.” Observed on the full moon day of the month of Shravan (August), Raksha Bandhan goes beyond just a festival as it transcends into a heartfelt tribute to the cherished relationship that siblings share.

At its core, Raksha Bandhan is a ritual where a sister adorns her brother’s wrist with a vibrant rakhi – a sacred thread that weaves together their affection and camaraderie. This simple yet meaningful act signifies the profound love they have for each other. In return, the brother pledges to stand as her protector, offering guidance and support throughout the journey of life.

At CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai, the significance of Raksha Bandhan found its way to the ELP learners. Through melodic songs and insightful videos, they delved into the essence of the tradition, cultivating an understanding that will remain imprinted in their hearts.

The learners, with their hearts full of innocence and affection adorned each other with rakhis symbolizing care and shared joy. In this act of tying rakhis and exchanging affection, they embodied the profound teachings that Raksha Bandhan imparts – lessons of love, protection, and the irreplaceable bond of family.

The spirit of Raksha Bandhan filled the air, as it stood as an embodiment of these invaluable life lessons.
