CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai convened the simultaneous celebration of two remarkable events– the National Sports Day and the Onam Festival on the 29th of August, 2023. This alignment of events that was fortuitous came to fruition through a special assembly that was convened as an ode to commemorate the significance of these occasions, where tradition and athleticism came together to inspire and educate.
The National Sports day commemorated every year to pay homage to the iconic Hockey wizard of the country, Dhyan Chand Singh whose unparallel contributions to Hocky stood vanguard for Indian sports and attracted many to consider a career in sports. In order to duly observed the significance, a volleyball match was organised and the four houses battled it out for the Championship title.
While the National Sports Day echoed the prowess of athletes, the vibrant Onam Festival highlighted the cultural significance of Kerala. What makes Onam unique and special is that its seamless fusion of sporting activities into its cultural revelry.
The special assembly acted as a confluence point of these seemingly distinct event and left an indelible imprint, reminding students that every event carries a deeper significance and offers valuable life lessons. The creative quiz put forth by the students that involved engaging questions and spirited answers showcased the impact of these celebrations on their lives, igniting a spark of awareness and appreciation. Meanwhile, during the assembly, a special arrangement unfurled as the House prefects took the stage to ignite the enthusiasm of their fellow house members for the upcoming sporting events. With the intramurals in full swing, their dedicated participation promises to weave success into the houses’ points tally. Adding to the fervour, two exceptional students, Lakshan V G of CAIE 4 and Leelaah R S of CAIE 5 were honoured during the assembly for their remarkable achievements in Kata Kumite and Roller Skating, amidst the uproarious cheers of their peers.
