Pantomime Competition @ CPS GS, ANN

Written by cpsglobalblog

It’s the time of the year when silence collides with a platter of entertainment at CPS Global School, Anna Nagar. The month of July started dramatically with the Pantomime Competition, which was conducted zealously across the school from CAIE 3 to A Level.

Pantomime has its roots in ‘Commedia dell’arte’, a 16th-century Italian entertainment that used dance, music, tumbling, and acrobatics and featured a cast of mischievous stock characters. Thus, CPSGS decided not to miss imbibing this terrific art form within its extraordinary treasured possessions.

The budding artists lit up the audience, wowing them with their natural presence and comedic angle. The performances ranged from mind-blowing individual displays to amusingly captivating group performances. It was impossible for the spectators and the judges to sit in the auditorium without being filled with laughter, admiration and adulation for the ‘mimers’. The facial expressions, hand signals and body motions with props and music not only helped deliver the right degree of pomp and humour but also shed light on the harsh realities of life. A hotch-potch of all the expressions that have been seen on any stage made the crowd cheer for the actors saying, “Bravo! Encore!”
