My Book report @ CPSGS, ANN

Written by cpsglobalblog

Learning to pick out useful information from longer texts is a skill that can be used throughout life – particularly when growing up and learning at more advanced levels. There’s no reason why the technique can’t be introduced early when children have gained some writing competency and are being introduced to longer passages.

One such skill is writing a Book report. A book report is your child’s written critique of a book that they have read. It tends to focus on describing what the book is about which includes the title and author, an overview of the story: characters, plot, setting, etc

Book reports also help teachers assess children’s comprehension of their reading books, and ensure that books are read properly, not just skimmed over. And, of course, they help improve literacy skills such as spelling, grammar, and vocabulary.

For our EY 3 learners, a book report was a drawing representation of the book, with a simple sentence written underneath. Children enjoyed reflecting on the renowned ‘The Lion and the Mouse story.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Here are a few for you to see and adore.
