Our CIE 1 students engaged in an interesting hands on activity using tens and ones blocks that made two-digit addition a fun and meaningful experience. By working hands-on, children not only learn the steps of addition but also develop a deeper understanding of how numbers work. These blocks made abstract math concepts tangible, helping children visualize the process of addition. The children segregated the given two digit numbers as ones and tens and then added them using the blocks to derive at the answer, which made them understand the steps of adding two numbers better.
By visualizing the steps and practicing with these tools, children gained a solid understanding of place value and addition. This activity built strong math foundations and helped children approach math with excitement and confidence and also fosters a love for learning.
