Our CIE 2 students embarked on an exciting journey into the world of numbers with the double take subtraction challenge – a creative activity designed to make subtraction both engaging and interactive. Armed with six digits, students were tasked with creating two three digit numbers. The twist? They solved one subtraction problem without regrouping and another with regrouping.
This dual challenge encouraged students to think critically, strategize and explore the flexibility of numbers while improving the essential mathematical skills.
Through this activity, students enhanced their number composition skills, gained confidence in creating and working with three digit numbers, deepened their understanding of place value, learned to identify when regrouping is necessary, and improved their problem solving techniques. Our young mathematicians demonstrated that math is not just a subject to learn but a fascinating world to explore and enjoy!
