Zeal, gusto, passion, enthusiasm and whatnot: the atmosphere at the CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai today reverberated with these adjectives as the school convened the FUNATHON 23, annual sports meet for the ELP learners. The event began with seeking God’s blessings through the recital of a school prayer followed by the head of school’s welcome address, exhilarating the passion for sports and physical activities through her speech. The theme of this year’s sports meet is to bring the passion of sports into our young minds through the Child Prodigies who had achieved in their respective fields at a very small age. Parents and students were astonished to listen to the achievements they have made in their fields with so much passion and perseverance. The posters of famous personalities in sports adorned the arena of the sporting area to pep up the students and motivate them as every noteworthy contribution stem from a small step that is taken with enduring vigour and determination. The students participated in a plethora of events that

ranged from racing to bean bag balancing and candy hiding after gaining strength, balance, and flexibility through a display of Yoga, the various poses were achieved by flexing the muscles alongside the emcees describing the physical and mental benefits of each of the poses were a delight to watch. The icing on the cake in the sports meet came in the form of the race for the parents which got them to roll up their sleeves and get their hands wet by proving that their attendance is not just to barely observe the event as a silent spectator but to actively take the plunge to endure and set an example for their wards that sports and wellness are lifelong pursuits. Overall, the event was a roaring success, although the fun and frolic took a backseat while competing as it involves total engrossment in the task at hand. But the loud cheer and clapping resumed once the winners were announced. The winners and runners cheerfully hugged each other displaying sportsmanship in brilliant colours and the scene depicted the essence of the lines that goes like this, “Victory is in the quality of competition and not the final score.”
