It was another exciting day in the EY segment and today EY 2 children were all geared up to explore the concepts of fractions using a concrete activity. Teachers initiated a discussion on parts and whole followed by a demonstration of cutting an apple into half and quarter and children were encouraged to cut the bread and cucumber into half and quarter. They were engaged in learning the concept with a hands-on activity under the supervision of the teachers. Children demonstrated the concept of part and a whole by dividing the bread into equal portions Thereafter, it was connected to the discipline where, children were given different shapes of papers to demonstrate their understanding of dividing the paper into equal parts and then to quarters.. We are confident that such learning experiences will promote divergent thinking and problem solving skills in our children.
