Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one’
– C.S. Lewis
The bond shared among individuals through friendship, which gradually solidifies into an
unbreakable relationship over the years, is undoubtedly a blessing. To honour and
celebrate this remarkable connection that stands the test of time, International
Friendship Day is observed every year on the first Sunday of August. At CPS Global
School, Thirumazhisai, we took the opportunity to commemorate the spirit of friendship
among our ELP learners with utmost enthusiasm and fervour.
The ways in which we celebrate Friendship Day are as diverse as the friendships that
blossom over a lifetime. For our ELP learners at CPS Global School, TMZ, the
celebrations were marked by an abundance of enthusiasm. The event, Bond Forever
had their enthusiasm translated into heartwarming moments shared over snacks and
pleasantries, including the exchange of Friendship Day medals – tokens of affection
symbolizing the bonds they have nurtured. This year, the focus was on nurturing the
habit of sharing among ELP learners, as they brought along biscuits/snacks to share
with their friends, emphasizing the essence of camaraderie and togetherness.
The spirit of camaraderie was further heightened through a series of engaging activities
specifically tailored for our ELP learners. The learners of ELP 1 engaged in delicately
drawing intricate butterfly designs on each other’s hands. ELP 2 learners had an
enchanting activity by crafting wreaths using their palms, which skillfully transformed
individual efforts into a collaborative masterpiece. Meanwhile, the young minds of ELP 3
embraced the delight of sponge dabbing, creating charming figures of gingerbread boys
and girls while immersing themselves in a vibrant array of colors.
As the day unfolded, laughter and joyous moments echoed through our learning
spaces, reminding us all of the profound importance of friendship. These activities not
just celebrated the spirit of togetherness but also generated enduring memories that are
worthy enough to linger in their hearts even throughout the course of their lives
Friendship Day is more than just a day that deserves commemoration; it’s a reminder of
the beauty and significance of the connections we nurture. As our ELP learners
celebrated, they also forged bridges of shared experiences, intricately weaving the
tapestry of friendship that will accompany them as they grow and learn together. In the
words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, “The only way to have a friend is to be one.” This
sentiment encapsulates the friendship they are building.
