Flowing Solids: The Secret Behind Grain Size and Speed @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

“In the world of powders, size shapes the speed.”

CIE students investigated how powders—solids that can flow like liquids—move differently.

Using a stopwatch, they measured how quickly sugar, salt, sand, and flour flowed. They discovered that solids with larger grains flowed faster, while those with smaller grains moved more slowly.

This hands-on experiment illustrated the fascinating relationship between grain size and flow rate in an engaging way.
