Fishing ‘th’ Words @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

Our Ey3 has been focussing on learning the  ‘h’ friend digraphs this month. Digraphs are found in many common words (e.g., “ship,” “chair,” “teeth”). Reinforcing these letter combinations gives children access to a wider range of vocabulary, helping them recognize and understand more complex words. In today’s activity, ‘th’ words were placed in cups designed to look like ponds, with each word representing a fish. The children were given fishing rods to ‘catch’ a word from the cups. Once they caught a word, they had to read it aloud.”. This hands-on activity sparked their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. By physically “fishing” for words, children are using their motor skills, which can enhance memory retention for some learners who benefit from movement-based learning.
