Exploring Creativity through Lino Sheet Carving and Printing @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

Art has always been an integral part of school curriculum, offering students a unique platform to express their creativity, develop fine motor skills, and explore new techniques. One such engaging activity that blends craftsmanship and artistic vision is lino sheet carving and printing. Recently, our students embarked on an exciting artistic journey, exploring this traditional printmaking technique as part of their art class. This allowed students to engage deeply with each step of the creative process such as designing the image, carving the lino block, inking the block and printing the image.

The repetitive nature of printmaking also allowed students to create multiple prints, leading some to experiment further with color mixing, layering, and even overlapping different designs. Students gained an appreciation for the physical process of creating art with their hands, a refreshing break from the screen-based creativity often emphasized today. Theynot only did they walk away with a deeper understanding of the printmaking process, but they also gained confidence in their artistic abilities.
