This Thursday, the students of CPS Global had the opportunity to attend an informative career counselling lecture with Mr Swaminathan. He is a professional with over 30 years, and an individual with a profusion of knowledge regarding college applications and schooling abroad. He provides excellent career and admission counselling for students who wish to join foreign colleges and universities for UG programs. The session provided the students information regarding the various colleges and universities abroad and the process of applying for different courses . He is also the parent of Sai Shankar, an ex-batchmate from our very own prestigious institution and was readily involved in his college applications, therefore Mr Swaminathan not only had the knowledge but also the understanding of the technicalities involved in foreign university admissions. This was found to be unique by all the students as it was an extremely practical session. He provided us with important information such as how crucial it is to build profiles from a young age and into one’s field of interest. He advised students “when you are in 9th or 10th, you have the power to control what your resume looks like by the time you start applying for college”. The session created awareness among the students regarding the importance of identifying their field of interest and creating their profile once they start their IGCSE, and the different entrance examinations they ought to do.
Mr Swaminathan shared with us things which can only be known through experience and did not just spill things one can easily notice by surfing on the web. To say the session was helpful is an understatement and the main takeaway for all students was that it is never too soon to start working on your college resumes and that consistently preserving into the field of your interest can in actual fact improve the chances of getting into the university of our choice.
