Giving is one of the best investments an individual can make to achieve genuine happiness. True giving comes from the heart, with no expectation of reciprocation. Giving is an important trait to teach children
The joy of giving was followed by yet another week of celebration, the Enchanted Generosity Week. This celebration aims at promoting the idea a small act of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of others, spreading love and compassion throughout society. Our Tiny tots were encouraged to bring used storybooks, share their old toys, and dry ration like dal rice and eatables. The pride and understanding with which our children donated to the cause was heart-melting.
At the end of this drive, the items were neatly packed and distributed to the “My Child Foundation” by the team of EY teachers.
My Child Foundation is a Day care center, Special school, and Rehabilitation center for mentally challenged children belonging to the lower socio-economic strata of the society. Presently 30 children are picked up daily by van and brought to the centre and are given physiotherapy, occupational therapy, special education, speech and language therapy. They have also provided home-cooked lunches since 2008.
The awe and smiles of excitement in the faces of the children there is beyond what words can explain.
To conclude, in the words of Mother Teresa, “It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” Our EY children learnt that there is not only happiness in receiving gifts but also in sharing their things however small it is.
