Diwali, predominantly known as the festival of lights, is celebrated in India in all its glory. Diwali symbolises the reign of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. People commemorate this significantly auspicious festival by illuminating the motherland with lights in the form of lamps and crackers. An amalgamation of love, hope and joy is the essence of Diwali which can be sensed in the “sweet” friends and family gatherings. CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai, has indeed celebrated Diwali with great splendour. The celebrations started with the assembly hosted by the students of CAIE 7. The significance of the day was portrayed through a Puppet show on Ramayana that was excellently executed by the students of CAIE 8. Inevitable it is to admit that the tiny hearts of ELP 1-3 who effortlessly enchanted the hearts of all with their graceful yet adorable dance moves. The soul-stirring song from the little ones of CAIE 1-4 was yet another highlight of the day. Another ace performance was from the students of CAIE 7 and 8, entertaining the audience with an eloquent skit that centred on the need for an environment-friendly Diwali celebration. The stage was again hued by an elegant dance performance of the kids of CAIE 5-7. Cyrus of CAIE 7 shared a few informative suggestions with all on observing an eco-friendly Diwali. Amid this, the students of IBDP Year 2 were honoured with Silver and Bronze Pins together with certificates for International Award for Young People for their grit and perseverance they had exhibited as they completed their assignments through the pandemic; noteworthy to mention that the silver pin awardees were compelled to do most of their IAYP tasks during the pandemic. Silver pins were awarded to Aadila Zakir Hussain, Aditya Mukerjee and Mathangi V. R. and Bronze pins to Ashwin Selvapandian, Daniel Margoschis, Aditi Sanjay, Nithin S. and Rohith Raman. The programme was contentedly concluded by the address of the head of the school who, as always, has adorned the gathering with her informative yet wise phrases. The celebration has brought everyone together to laugh, to entertain, to enjoy and to appreciate each other, which is what Diwali is all about- “light over darkness.”
