On 22nd July 2024, the IBDP 1 and IBDP 2 students of CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai embarked on a fascinating field trip to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. Excitement was palpable as they set out to explore the esteemed institution’s campus. As they entered the gates, they were struck by the beautiful blend of modern architecture and lush greenery. Moreover, the trip coincided with Gregor Mendel’s (Father of Genetics) birthday, providing a great opportunity to connect his legacy to the scientific exploration at IIT Madras.
Their destination was the Department of Biotechnology, where they delved into the fascinating world of biological sciences. The students were introduced to cutting-edge research projects and witnessed innovative experiments in genetic engineering, microbiology, and bioinformatics. The faculty and students shared their knowledge and experiences, giving the visitors a glimpse into the latest advancements in the field. The students were also given a hands-on experience with microbiological experiments and plating techniques.
The interactive session was particularly engaging, as the students asked questions and learned about the real-world applications of biotechnology. They also had the opportunity to tour the campus and the lab facilities.
The field trip to IIT Madras was an enriching experience, inspiring the IBDP 1 and IBDP 2 students to pursue their passions and strive for excellence. They returned to school with new knowledge, motivation, and unforgettable memories.
