Every Child Feels Seen, Safe, and Supported”
At CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai, our Grade 2 students engaged in meaningful learning around the core psychosocial concept of belongingness — the fundamental human need to feel connected, accepted, and valued within a group. Through age-appropriate stories, guided discussions, and experiential activities, students explored how positive relationships contribute to emotional well-being. The learning experience emphasized prosocial behaviours such as kindness, empathy, and cooperation, which are essential for building healthy peer relationships. Children identified practical ways to express kindness, including using respectful language, offering help, and being mindful of others’ feelings. They also explored supportive behaviours such as sharing resources, providing emotional reassurance, and collaborating effectively during group tasks.
Students reflected on how feeling loved and accepted fosters emotional safety and self-confidence. These reflections helped them understand that embracing individual differences plays a vital role in creating a positive and inclusive classroom climate. Overall, the session reinforced that belongingness develops through consistent, compassionate actions. By practising empathy, acceptance, and mutual respect, our students are strengthening their social-emotional competencies and growing into emotionally aware, socially responsible individuals.
