Unleashing Imagination: The Erudite Talk Ignites the Storytellers Within

Written by cpsglobalblog

The most powerful person in the world is the storyteller. The storyteller sets the vision, values, and agenda of an entire generation that is to come

– Steve Jobs

“Inside each of us is a natural-born storyteller, waiting to be released,” said Robin Moore. In line with this quote, The Erudite Talk of CPS Global School organized a storytelling event on July 12th, 2023, aimed at unleashing the storytellers within the students. The event featured Ms. Dharanya Srinivasan, the founder of Minmini – The Storyfly, as the chief guest, who came to narrate and inspire the young storytellers. The program commenced with a welcome speech by Rian of CAIE 3, followed by Madhushree of CAIE 5 introducing the guest speaker. The session was then handed over to the esteemed speaker.

The storytelling session began with an engaging ice-breaking activity, where students actively participated and immersed themselves in the setting of the story. As the story unfolded, the students were transported to the captivating kingdom of Bondapalli, delighting in the fictional history of this enchanting realm. Concluding the tale, the students, alongside the guest speaker, composed and performed a song using musical instruments. As the students listened and participated, they were engrossed in another narrative called “Snowcapped Mountain,” featuring a dragon and a boy. The speaker’s expressive storytelling and props allowed the students, ranging from CAIE 1 to CAIE 5, to vividly visualize the adventurous story, leaving them amazed.

In the next part of the event, a Story Circle activity was conducted by the guest speaker for CAIE 4 and 5. The students eagerly contributed creative sentences to collectively build a story. Witnessing how the story evolved from a single sentence, developed its plot, and ultimately unfolded into an intriguing tale, the students were filled with excitement and a newfound appreciation for their hidden creativity. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Harshavardhan of CAIE 4.

As part of the storytelling event, an interactive session for teachers was conducted by Ms. Dharanya. The session commenced with a discussion on the driving factors of storytelling. During the speaker’s address, teachers gained insightful thoughts on storytelling, the qualities of a good storyteller, and the importance of choosing appropriate stories for different situations. The shared ideas and reflections from the guest speaker encouraged teachers to select stories with care and consideration.

Overall, the storytelling event proved to be an artistic and enlightening experience, igniting the passion for storytelling within the students and providing valuable insights to the teachers. The occasion served as a testament to the power of storytelling in nurturing imagination, creativity, and effective communication skills among young minds.
