Think-pair-share with human model organs @ CPS Global School, Anna Nagar

Written by cpsglobalblog

An active learning strategy developed by Sir Frank Lyman allows students the time and structure to think critically and evaluate the concepts to comprehend. Think-Pair-Share is one of the excellent active learning strategies implemented in courses as it takes very little prep time, is relatively simple and easy to understand, and purposefully shifts the learning environment to be more student-centered. Student-led revision of concepts with human model organs was an excellent means of reviewing the understanding and ensured the solving of exam-style questions effectively. The students were pro-actively engaged and enjoyed re-learning with the use of human model organs of the digestive system i.e., liver, stomach, pancreas, gallbladder, various parts of small intestines – duodenum, jejunum, and ileum, and the large intestinal activity in chemical digestion and absorption and excretion. Also, the structure of the tooth, types of teeth, protection of enamel, pulp, and nerve root from dental infection using fluorides, calcium, and salt along with the significance of wisdom teeth were studied. Overall, it was a resourceful and fun learning revision activity wherein students could confidently explain, differentiate, and comment on each metabolic activity with detailed sequential processes carried out by the specific enzymes.
