The Tiny Seed @ CPS GS, ANN

Written by cpsglobalblog

Seeds are wonderful to explore in so many different ways. They can be planted, squeezed, shaken, and glued. We often serve foods with seeds in our everyday meals and snacks. Children usually spit out seeds they encounter in foods like oranges or watermelon, yet have no problem eating the tiny seeds in blueberries.

This week our tony tots had a hands-on activity wherein they explored different kinds of seeds brought by their classmates in various ways, from comparing size, and texture to colors of the seeds. They also learned about the number of seeds in different fruits, and how are they different?  What is unique about them?  How does the size of the seed compare to the size of what it will grow into? Their love for counting was also fulfilled through this exploration.

Thus, the fun activity of exploring seeds provided the children of EY 2 with Sensory play and helped them enhance their Cognitive, Math, and Early language skills.
