The International Award for Young People (IAYP), also known as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in some countries, is a globally recognized youth achievement program that encourages personal discovery, growth, and resilience. Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting an insightful session on IAYP that left participants inspired and motivated to embark on their own journeys of self-improvement.
IAYP is designed to challenge young people between the ages of 14 and 24 to develop new skills, push their physical limits, and contribute positively to their communities. The program is structured around four main sections: Service, Skills, Physical Recreation, and Adventurous Journey, with an additional Residential Project at the Gold level. Participants can achieve Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards by completing the requirements of each section. The programs flexibility allows young people to choose activities that interest them, ensuring that their experience is both meaningful and enjoyable. The session began with an overview of the IAYP framework, highlighting the significance of each section. Participants were introduced to the various activities they could engage in, from volunteering in local communities to developing a new hobby or sport.
The IAYP stands out as a beacon of positive development, helping them navigate challenges, discover their potential, and emerge as confident, capable adults. This session was not just an introduction to the IAYP , it was a call to action for young people to embark on a transformative journey that will shape their futures.
