SIMILO, the annual Science Fest, took centerstage on the crisp first Saturday morning of 2024 at CPS Global School, Thirumazhisai, bringing the entire student community together to delve into the captivating realms of science. Dr. K. Sivagamy, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) at TNAU, ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tirur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, setting the tone for a day filled with scientific exploration.
The fest was segregated according to various thematic explorations, with CAIE 1 to CAIE 5 students presenting their innovative Science projects, ranging from Our Solar System to Smart Water Management for Flood Prevention, showcasing a wide spectrum of scientific curiosity and exploration.
Notable highlights included CAIE 6’s exploration of force and energy, where students demonstrated simple machines in everyday life and probed into Newton’s Laws of Motion. CAIE 7 students engaged in hydraulics, designing models of hydraulic lift systems, arms, and brake systems.
The IGCSE Year 1 students geared up to showcase the relevance of artificial intelligence through either ingenious apps or looking into the world of chatbots like Perplexity, Gemini and the obvious Chat GPT! The IBDP Year 1students presented their Swasthya – Grains of Synergy Project, an interschool collaboration where they highlighted their knowledge and learning outcomes of their research, field work on millets and the influence of government interventions, as their contribution to the 2023- International Year of the Millet campaign, designated by UN.
SIMILO, the Science Fest, thus stood as a testament to the students’ boundless commitment to innovation and scientific inquiry.
